BioCraft × BioClub: Distilling Lost Scents of Terra

An Invitation from the Future
[Received: January 24, 2225 AD]
[From: BioCraft “Memory Archive” Lab]
What would we lose if “scent” vanished from this world?
The smell of asphalt after rain, the scent of old book pages, the air in the moment you pass someone dear.
What if these things, so commonplace we overlooked them, became as rare as jewels in the future?
The setting is the year 2225.
A world where environmental changes have caused the loss of many plants, making natural fragrances a “heritage of the past.”
This time, a one-day-only “Distillation Lab” appears at FabCafe Tokyo.
It's a thought experiment using the profound “mechanisms of memory and the mind” and the imagination of “SF (Science Fiction)” as catalysts to unravel the wonder of your own “perception.”
It's an adult “play” designed to unleash your curiosity.
This weekend afternoon, why not slip on a lab coat and embark on a time travel journey to the future.
Event Overview
Event Name: BioCraft × BioClub “Distill the Fragrance of the Lost Earth (Terra)”
Date: Saturday, January 24, 2026 Time: 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM (Doors open at 1:45 PM) Venue: FabCafe Tokyo (Shibuya, Dogenzaka), 2nd Floor (FabCafe MTRL) Participation Fee: : ¥2,000 (tax included) + 1 drink order (Payable on-site in cash or via PayPay — cafe is cashless) Materials: If you have materials you wish to preserve for the future (herbs, fruit peels, etc.), please bring them. Capacity: 10 participants Organized by: BioCraft × BioClub
Program: What You'll Experience at This Event
This workshop isn't just about making aromas. Under the theme of “democratizing science,” it's an experiment (hacking) to reclaim expert knowledge into our own hands and change how we see the world.
1. SF Prototyping:
Under the theme “A World Depleted of Scents,” even the plant odors we call “the smell of soil” might be treasures worth millions of credits.
First, we'll flip the switch on our imagination and shed our everyday biases.
2. Distillation Experiment:
Using actual flasks and beakers, we'll experience “steam distillation” to extract aromatic essences from raw materials.
The moment plants transform into liquid, drop by drop, through steam distillation.
Relive that thrilling sensation from the science lab as an intellectual adult's play.
3. The Perspective of the “Perceiving Heart”:
Why does a specific scent instantly awaken past memories?
How does the way our hearts perceive change when “just a smell” gains the context of a “future story”?
We'll share the moment your usual senses get updated, touching on the brain's mysterious mechanism for determining “value.”
4. Future Auction:
We'll add your own “poem (name)” and “story” to the extracted scent and list it for a future auction.
The process of preserving the intangible “scent” through “words” becomes the ultimate output experience, sharpening your sensibilities.
Recommended for
No specialized knowledge is required. All you need is “curiosity.”
*Those who wish to immerse themselves in stories or sci-fi worlds while exploring ideas
*Those drawn to the invisible—like “scent” or “memory”
*Those who want to reexamine everyday scenes through a different lens
*Those eager to relive the thrill of scientific experimentation
